Music
At Chalton Lower School, we aim to provide an enjoyable and challenging Music curriculum, which gives all pupils the opportunity to sing, play, create and perform, both individually and collaboratively. Our pupils have many opportunities to understand how music is created including the inter-related dimensions such as pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations. Our objective at Chalton Lower is to develop a curiosity for the subject, as well as an understanding of many different types of music. It is our intention that every child is provided with the opportunity to develop an appreciation for music which they can carry with them throughout their lives. At Chalton Lower School we follow the Charanga Music Scheme. Lessons are inclusive and developmentally appropriate for different age groups and specific needs of the children, while still allowing opportunities for the children to stretch and challenge themselves.
We are very fortunate to be able to work with qualified music teachers from Inspiring Music who provide some of our music lessons and additional musical opportunities for the children.
