Inclusion Strategy
At Chalton Lower School, we believe that every child deserves to feel welcomed, valued and included. Our Inclusion Strategy sets out how we work together to remove barriers to learning and help every child thrive. Inclusion is at the heart of our nurturing ethos and is central to our vision of helping every child to “be the best that they can be.”
We recognise that every child is unique and that children learn, communicate and develop in different ways. Our strategy ensures that children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), receive the right support at the right time.
We place high-quality teaching and adaptive practice at the centre of our approach, so that children can learn successfully alongside their peers. We believe that early identification is important, allowing us to understand children’s needs and provide support before difficulties become barriers to progress. Our approach is not about making children fit into one way of learning, it is about adapting our provision to help each child succeed.
We work closely with children, families, staff, governors and external professionals to understand individual strengths, interests and needs. We listen carefully to pupil and parent voice and use assessment and evidence to understand what is making the greatest difference. We regularly review the impact of our support and adapt our provision where needed. Most importantly, we want every child to feel that they belong, that they are understood and that their voice matters.
We want all our children to participate fully in school life, develop independence and experience success. By working together, we can remove barriers, celebrate differences and ensure that every child has the opportunity to flourish.
Our Inclusion Strategy is therefore an important part of our commitment to making Chalton Lower School a place where every child can belong, achieve and thrive.
